Camp Samantha is a grief camp held in July at Spirit in the Desert located in Carefree, AZ. This weekend, overnight camp is designed for children and teens 6-17 and the adults in their lives who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The camp runs from Friday evening to late Sunday afternoon.
Camp Samantha is a traditional, fun, high-energy camp combined with grief education and emotional support. Through art, music, and a lot of talking and laughing, kids learn about death and dying. And, they learn how to begin to cope. All of this in a safe environment with other grieving children where they can realize they are not alone.
The adult program at Camp Samantha is facilitated during the same time as the kid's camp in an adjacent facility.
Stepping Stones of Hope gratefully celebrates Samantha Marie Foutch’s spirit through the gentle healing experiences of the weekend camp.
SAMANTHA MARIE FOUTCH
December 31, 1994 – October 15, 2004
ABOUT SAMANTHA...Sammy was a victim of a tragic homicide crime; however, we choose to remember her as a vibrant, almost 10 year old young lady who looked great in hats and nicknamed her dad "Triple D". Sammy was smart, witty and always made those around her laugh....and she was sensitive, followed the rules, cried easily and laughed a lot! Sammy was a morning person, like her dad, and loved their early morning donut runs. Her hugs were so tight they hurt and most of all, she loved her sisters, her mom, her Nina, and her dad (who was also her idol.)
